Leadership and Management Professional Development Programmes Insight Sessions

As part of our commitment to support the professional development of our staff and to align our workforce with future UCL organisational needs, following a successful pilot we will be offering Leadership and Management Professional Development Programmes for supervisors or managers at grade 7 upwards to complement our existing leadership offer. The Team Leader programme may also be suitable for aspiring managers in grade 6 roles who support junior colleagues. We are particularly keen to encourage applications from our Technical, Research and Academic staff.

What is it?

Starting in March 2025, these programmes will be delivered by our training provider Corndel and funded through the UCL Apprenticeship Levy. They will provide structured training, allowing you to enhance your career prospects through the development of valuable skills and earn a nationally recognised qualification as well as CMI Chartered Fellow, Chartered Manager or Foundation Chartered Manager Status.

Staff wishing to apply for any of these Leadership or Management programmes must attend one of the insight sessions. Further details of each of the programmes will be provided so that applicants can select the most appropriate programme and understand the commitment required. The session will also set out the application process and timelines.

The line managers session will outline the crucial role that managers play in the success of the professional development programmes and set out the application process including manager's approval and timelines.

Due to national changes in apprenticeships, this is likely to be the last opportunity to offer the Level 7 Senior Leader programme. We would therefore encourage you to apply in this cohort if you are interested in this programme.

Who is it for?

These programmes are designed for those who work as supervisors, managers or senior leaders across UCL who wish to deepen their leadership expertise, apply new knowledge skills and behaviours within their current role and contribute to the organisation’s success. You and your line manager are advised to review all this information ahead of the information sessions so that you have a good understanding of the content of the programme, the benefits it will bring and the commitment required.

How do I register?

There will be various sessions for applicants and line managers running from 7 to 16 January 2025. 

If you wish to apply but are unable to attend the session, you should still register your interest to be sent recordings and details of how to apply.
