New training will be available to Investigating Managers at UCL
8 August 2024
A new classroom-based practical training course for aspiring or current investigating managers will be available in the first half of the 2024-25 academic year.
The Employee Relations (ER) team supports formal casework across all areas of UCL, assisted by UCL employees who act as investigating managers, panel members and panel chairs.
We are pleased to announce we will be launching a new classroom-based practical training course for aspiring or current investigating managers. The course will provide investigating managers with the knowledge and skills needed to conduct an investigation under UCL policies and procedures.
The benefits of becoming an investigating manager at UCL include:
- Developing your skills in areas such as report writing, critical thinking and analysis.
- Developing your skills and confidence as a manager to deal with issues that may arise in your day job.
- Enabling you to demonstrate good citizenship, evidence of which can be used in appraisals and when applying for new roles.
Investigating training is a half-day course and is suitable for those who have already undertaken investigations at UCL and want to refresh their knowledge and skills. It is also suitable for those who are new to investigations and are interested in participating in Employee Relations work.
The entry requirements for investigating training are:
- Previous experience assisting in ER investigations.
- Or grade 7 or above with no experience assisting in ER investigations, with an interest in supporting formal casework.
To register your interest, or if you have any questions, please contact the Employee Relations team at ercases@ucl.ac.uk
