University College London (UCL) is pleased to announce the successful retainment of the HR Excellence in Research Award, after an 8 year review (November 2022).

The award was achieved in alignment with the university’s commitment, to the 2019 Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers, showcasing its promise to support, develop and celebrate those engaged in research.

Over the years, the institution has played a fundamental role in developing the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers. In 2018, Pro-Vice Provost of the Doctoral School, Professor David Bogle chaired an independent review of the original Concordat. The panel from the review concluded that there were further improvements to make to ensure a progressive and supportive research culture for all. A year later, UCL signed the revised Concordat published in 2019, pledging their commitment to the continuous advancement of researcher development.

Professor David Bogle, shared his thoughts on the retainment of the award this year.

“The renewal of our HR Excellence in Research Award recognises UCL's commitment and actions towards a strong and supportive environment for early career researchers to help them develop as independent researchers prepared for roles in society.  The award recognises the continuing journey we are on to do the best for our research staff who help drive our research mission.  Congratulations to all involved.” – Professor David Bogle, Pro-Vice Provost (Doctoral School)
