Dear colleagues,

On 19 December 2019, I wrote to you highlighting our commitment to listening to our Teaching Fellow community understanding how we could improve things across UCL.

We have received over 355 responses to the survey as well as additional feedback via departments and the HR Business Partnering team and I would like to thank you all for taking the time to feedback your views.

Over the last month we have also met and listened to colleagues from UCU, a Teaching Fellow review group (made up of Teaching Fellows) and sought feedback from departmental teams across UCL to build a better picture in understanding the challenges and experiences of our Teaching Fellow community.

We are now in the process of analysing all of the feedback gathered. An initial analysis suggests particular (but not exclusive) focus on questions of consistency across UCL, contractual arrangements, workload, status and career pathways.

We will continue to work with UCU and the Teaching Fellow review group on how we respond to the issues raised and I will provide you with a further update on outcomes and recommendations in the coming months.
