Call for conference contributors: Creating connections

22 February 2019

UCL Organisational Development is looking for contributors to PGR conference: Creating Connections: boosting your part-time PhD on Wednesday 19 June 2019.

Networking at UCL event

Are you a research supervisor, or recent doctoral graduate who completed your research on a part-time basis? Would you like to share your skills and experience with current part-time research students?

Creating Connections: boosting your part-time PhD is an annual conference for part-time postgraduate research students and we would welcome your contribution in order to make it a success.

The themes for this year’s conference include but are not limited to: building connections, co-creation, expanding networks, assertiveness and ideas for a ‘part-time toolkit’.

We are looking for:

  1. Plenary Panel Members – we need research supervisors, recent doctoral graduates who supervise (particularly if you have completed on a part-time basis) and part-time postgraduate research students to participate in a ‘Supervision Panel’ in the morning;
  2. Case Study participants – if you are a busy, part-time researcher or recent doctoral graduate and would like to share your story of balancing research with other commitments, we would like to hear from you;
  3. Facilitators for innovative afternoon activities – if you are a researcher who has completed the UCL Arena One Gateway Workshop and would like to develop your facilitation skills, this is an excellent opportunity! You will be supporting your own group to guide them through the activity and help them reflect on their learning.

We will fully support all participants and hope that you will find it a rewarding development experience. Please email Sheetal Saujani, Academic Development Advisor if you are interested in participating, with your name, department, job title, whether you are a recent doctoral graduate or research supervisor and which of the above role(s) you would like to undertake.
