University and College Union industrial action at UCL: pay deductions to be spread over seven months

21 March 2018

New information about pay deductions as a result of industrial action.

Colleague typing

Following further feedback from colleagues on the picket line, the Provost has decided that UCL will deduct pay from colleagues taking industrial action over a substantially longer period of time. We hope that this will minimise the financial impact on affected staff.

Pay deductions will be as follows:

  • Two days in the March payroll for action taken on 22 and 23 February
  • Two days in the April payroll for action taken on 26 and 27 February
  • Two days in the May payroll for action taken on 28 February and 5 March
  • Two days in the June payroll for action taken on 6 and 7 March
  • Two days in the July payroll for action taken on 8 and 12 March
  • Two days in the August payroll for action taken on 13 and 14 March
  • Two days in the September payroll for action taken on 15 and 16 March

Staff will still need to record each day of strike action on the Strike Reporting System by the date previously announced - 6 April for action taken during March. If they do not do so their Head of Department will be able to record their action. Action short of a strike (ASOS) must also be recorded in the same way.
