UCL Human Resources

Mx, the gender neutral title, can now be used on UCL systems

5 January 2018

Mx title option

Staff who identify as non binary; genderfluid or simply do not wish to be defined as either male or female in their title have so far been unable to have this reflected on their HR record.

We are now delighted to announce that any staff who wish to do so may now have their HR record amended to reflect the title Mx. They should contact the HR Services team (hr-services@ucl.ac.uk) to do so.

A title change will be visible across various UCL systems such as:

  • Websites including UCL Staff Directory and IRIS (Institutional Research Information Service)
  • Applications used by departments, Finance and HR to support employment contract administration and HR processes

For any queries, please contact equalities@ucl.ac.uk.
