UCL Provost's statement about UCU industrial action

15 February 2018

A statement from Professor Michael Arthur, UCL President and Provost, concerning the UCU industrial action.

The Portico

It’s important that UCL is able to offer all staff a secure and affordable pension.  A formal consultation on the proposed changes will begin next month, and I fully support and will continue to encourage scheme members to share their views to help shape an outcome that works today and in the future. I am sure that the USS trustees will give the consultation responses due weight and I urge all parties to continue to work together to come up with proposals for change that will deliver a sustainable outcome.

In the meantime, our priority is to ensure that our students continue to receive a high quality learning experience, so that their education is not adversely affected by UCU’s decision to take strike action.

Professor Michael Arthur
I greatly appreciate the support of colleagues across UCL who are working hard to mitigate the impact of the strike on our students.
