Emerging Leaders

Emerging Leaders: a leadership and development programme for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic staff at UCL grades 5, 6 & 7

A positive, celebratory programme, rooted in culture and experience, Emerging Leaders is a programme to help engage your leadership potential and inspire your goals.

We will create a safe space to discuss themes of race, culture, leadership and your career development, acknowledging the different experiences that have shaped us. We start from the viewpoint that our diverse knowledge and lived experience is an advantage in the workplace. We will focus on identifying and developing your leadership style, preparing for career progression, and co-coaching one another towards new goals and objectives.

We will also work with your line manager to help raise awareness of the unique challenges facing staff of Black, Asian and other marginalised ethnic backgrounds, to provide them with guidance on allyship and inclusive leadership. For managers/sponsors Emerging Leaders provides an opportunity to refresh your leadership skills and enhance your practice.

Emerging Leaders is a blended learning and development programme: combining e-learning, online webinars, action learning, buddying and reflective practice. The entire programme is underpinned by coaching: you will learn new coaching skills, work with a buddy to practice peer-to-peer coaching and 1:1 attention from an Emerging Leaders coach.
