Advancing Principal Investigators

Develop the necessary skills and tools to lead a research team whilst developing your research career; for grades 8–9.

About the programme

The programme has a time commitment of 16 hours and is delivered across four half-days in a live virtual environment.

There are 48 places available, spread across three cohorts.

The programme builds on a framework that gives participants practical skills and tools to lead a research team with confidence in the midst of changing research environments.

The programme offers participants various solutions and approaches to team building and gaining co-operation from colleagues, using techniques to enhance team equality, diversity, depth and clarity. You will gain understanding on building and leading a research team, running effective research team meetings, supporting individual researchers and developing your role as a team leader.

Each segment of the programme builds on the previous one to create a unique opportunity to enhance your capability as a research leader and develop your career potential.

As part of the programme, participants have an opportunity for a one-on-one coaching session with a member of the training team at the end of the course. The session provides participants with the chance to discuss their leadership profile or another specific leadership issue.
