Small Grants Scheme case studies

This year, Workplace Wellbeing ran a Small Grants Scheme for health and wellbeing initiatives; departments and local areas were able to request up to £750 as a grant towards funding a wellbeing initiative. The scheme went really well with a wide variety of initiatives being run with great participation. We wanted to share a selection of some of the great initiatives that were run in the hope that they could act as an inspiration for a wellbeing initiative you may wish to run within your department or local area.

Whine & Art Happy Hour

Dr Keri Wong organised a ‘Whine & Art Happy Hour’ to share her love for oil painting as a means to de-stress with her fellow colleagues in the Department of Psychology and Human Development.

A faculty 5-a-side football tournament

Jill Cowing, Environment & Safety Manager from the Institute of Ophthalmology (IoO), organised a faculty 5-a-side football tournament to bring together and connect colleagues from Brain Sciences for a fun and active wellbeing event.

Dr Jessica Hayton, Lecturer and Programme Leader, is part of the Wellbeing Working Group created by the Psychology and Human Development Department in the IOE. She explains how she created a series of online creative events for her colleagues, as part of the UCL Small Grants Scheme for Wellbeing.

Nature for wellbeing photography competition

Kirstie Buckridge, Faculty Operations Manager from the IOE organised a “Nature for wellbeing” photography competition for colleagues across the IOE as a way of encouraging them to share their connection with nature during remote-working.
