Occupational Health Self-referral

You can self-refer yourself to Workplace Health for advice and assessment if you are concerned that work is affecting your health and therefore your ability to undertake your role.

Self-referral Eligibility

This service is available to all staff with a current contract of employment at UCL (incl. agency workers: Unitemps and Global Guidant).

The self-referral service is not available to people with an honorary status, visitor status, contractors (incl. UCL Business) or students. Please visit our accessing health support at UCL webpage for more information.

Self-referral Process

A self-referral to Workplace Health is appropriate if you are looking for some guidance for yourself or wish to access physiotherapy. You can refer yourself directly by completing the self-referral form and uploading it via MyServices

Your form will be processed by our administration team and passed on to our clinical team for triaging, at which point your enquiry ticket will be completed. Once your self-referral is triaged and accepted by the Occupational Health Advisors, you will be emailed and invited to call our appointments phone line to book your consultation.

We aim to offer consultation appointments within 10 working days of receiving a referral form. This may also depend on the demands on the service and your own availability. If your self-referral is for accessing physiotherapy service, the waiting times might be significantly higher (e.g., 6 weeks).

Please note that a self-referral will not generate a written report back to you or your manager. If the issue is impacting your ability to carry out your role, or you are likely to require workplace adjustments, we would recommend speaking to your manager to request a management referral.
