Director of Organisational Development
Sian joined UCL in 2018, and was promoted to her current role in 2019. Sian has worked in the HE sector for over 5 years, joining here from Imperial College where she designed and delivered a range of innovative academic leadership programmes. Prior to this, Sian completed a PhD at Loughborough University, while working at Tesco Engineering, exploring the longitudinal impact of behavioural change on energy consumption in stores.
Sian also has a Master’s degree in Work Psychology, and is a Chartered Master of the CIPD. Sian’s background includes extensive experience in a variety of industries and roles, including talent management, resourcing and diversity, and HR consultancy both in the UK and Hong Kong.
Sian’s interests lie in leadership behaviours and culture, and is passionate about supporting people to reach their potential through thriving at work. She loves to get things done, and is very proud of launching the UCL Ways of Working in her first year at UCL. She leads an equally dedicated team of 25 OD staff. This team encompasses Learning and Development staff that operationalise training across UCL, a specialist unit focussed on Early Career Researcher Development, and experts in both leadership development and employee experience.
At home Sian has three children and a running habit to keep her busy.
