In the last 12 years Paul has strengthened the capabilities of Safety Services ensuring the appropriate levels of resource and competence across a broad range of topics including radiation, biological safety including GM, chemical safety, and construction.

In his career Paul has had a keen focus on safety management systems, having successfully proposed, through a robust business case, the need for a review of the LUL safety management system, Paul was appointed to London Transport as the Safety and Environmental Systems Manager for the re-design of the Safety Management System for LUL. Paul has continued this management system focus at UCL with the introduction of the Target 100 Programme

An organisation’s success depends on its ability to manage risk and prevent accidents and ill health due to its activities. Paul believes that a safety professional’s role is to work with the organisation to enable achievement of an organisation’s aspirations and objectives whilst being able to provide an accurate assessment of where the organisation might require improvement.

Paul has been a keen motorcyclist for over 30 years and in his spare time Paul enjoys riding his motorbike, listening to rock music, reading science fiction, training in the gym and working out on his allotment. The latest addition to the family since his two children left the nest is Archie, a black cockerpoo and so naturally walking has become a feature of his spare time.
