One of the challenges faced by anyone teaching in higher education is to gain and then maintain the attention of the learners with the distractions that abound. This constant challenge has exercised teachers worldwide through the ages and remains one of the most significant in the modern university particularly when considering the student experience. This session will be draw upon the lessons that may be gained from examining other professions to see if they may shed light on ways to respond positively. Using the experience gained from working with a range of seemingly disparate professions, including stand-up comedians, preachers and scrip writers, this session will explore what we can borrow and then transplant into the higher education environment.There are no future events for this course listed.
