How to Register for History Modules

It is possible for students outside of the History Department to take a History module as an 'elective'. However, the availability of places on History modules is limited. Before you register your preferred module(s) on PORTICO, please click here to find a list of modules that currently have spaces.

Information on modules running in 2015/16 can be found on this webpage.

Non-History Affiliate students

The two half-units HIST7401A: History of Parliament and HIST7403A: Medieval History in London Collections in term 1, and  HIST7401B: History of Parliament and HIST7403B: Medieval History in London Collections in term 2, are modules specifically designed for Affiliate students from other UCL departments. The modules are very popular and students must sign up as early as possible to avoid disappointment. Non-History Affiliate students who do not obtain a place on either of these modules may wish to consider a HIST6XXX survey module (1.0 unit). If you are a term 1 only student, you are permitted to take the half unit version of the module: HIST6XXXA, or HIST6XXXB if you are a here for term 2 only.

How to register

If you wish to take a History module, you must register for the module via PORTICO. Your place is not confirmed until both the teaching department (History) and your home department have approved your registration via PORTICO. The History Undergraduate Team will start approving registrations for History modules from the week beginning Monday 14 September. Please note that we may not be able to approve registrations for HIST6XXX modules until Monday 5 October, after the first year History student allocations are complete.

If you have any queries, please email the Undergraduate Team at history-ug-enquiries@ucl.ac.uk.
