Joseph Whitchurch

Joseph's research, which is funded by the UCL Graduate Research Scholarship, explores the relationship between the individual's desire for revenge and the growth of the state. Of particular interest are the questions of if and how the role of revenge in the settling of disputes changed, and whether the desire for revenge resisted or promoted state formation, in Greece from c.700-330 BC.
