International Students’ Network, UCL History

A UCL History International Students’ Network is being created to offer opportunities for international students to socialise, support one another, and liaise with an academic contact over any matters concerning their particular experiences of studying in the History Department.

The remit of the network will be agreed democratically among members at its inaugural meeting (date and time tbc), but possible activities may include:

1.    Peer-to-peer support for the mental and academic welfare of our members
2.    A social space for people to chill and hang out when social distancing limits interactions with our friends at campus;
3.    A democratic agenda with members in the network being able to propose their own plans for the network going forward; to promote diversity within the department by offering International students another channel to voice their suggestions and concerns to help make online study run smoother;
4.    If possible, a unique academic forum where we as students are able to provide the department as well as future students with feedbacks ranging from the nitty-gritty of difficulties we face during the remote study, to the coping mechanisms we created to deal with stress during a global crisis.

If you would like to join the network, please write to Dr Iain Stewart (i.stewart@ucl.ac.uk) in the first instance.
