Our next alumni evening will take place on Tuesday, 5 December at 18.30 for 19.00. The evening will begin with wine and canapes, followed by a talk by Professor Eleanor Robson. Eleanor will talk about the Nahrein Network, a four-year project for which she has recently received a significant grant from the AHRC.
'What can antiquity, history and heritage contribute to rebuilding lives and livelihoods shattered by decades of war and terror in the Middle East? At UCL History, Oxford's Ashmolean Museum, and in Erbil, Baghdad, and Basrah, we're starting to build a regional research network to enable universities, museums, and community groups to better serve local, post-conflict needs. In this talk I'll explain why the Network is named Nahrein, the Arabic for "two rivers", and outline what we hope to achieve over the next four years.'
As usual the talk will be followed by time for questions, and a further opportunity to catch up and network over drinks.
This event is open to all UCL History alumni, and is free to attend. There is no need to book. We look forward to seeing you there!
