Programme outline for Ancient History BA students.
- First year
FIRST YEAR STUDENTS MUST TAKE:
- Writing Ancient History
- Making History
- Approaching History OR an Ancient Language
- One Ancient History Survey module
STUDENTS MAY THEN ALSO TAKE:
- Another Survey module (which need not be in ancient history)
- Ancient Greek, Latin, Akkadian or another Ancient Language
- An approved module from another department
- Second year
SECOND YEAR STUDENTS MUST TAKE:
- Second Year Research Seminar (Ancient History)
- A Thematic module (either at UCL, or an Intercollegiate 'group 2' module)
- An Ancient History Survey module OR ancient language modules (but only when modules in a second ancient language are also taken as electives)
STUDENTS MAY THEN ALSO TAKE:
- Ancient Language modules
- An additional Survey module (which need not be ancient history)
- An additional Thematic module
- Up to two Advanced Seminar modules
- An approved module from another department
- Third year
STUDENTS MUST TAKE:
- An Ancient History Special Subject (exam and dissertation)
- Two Advanced Seminar modules OR 30 credits of an Ancient Language at intermediate/advanced level (Levels 5/6)
STUDENTS MAY THEN ALSO TAKE:
- Two additional Advanced Seminar modules
- A Thematic module
- An Intercollegiate module
- Ancient Language modules
- An approved module from another department
- A free-standing dissertation
