History of St. Albans Walking Tour

Jonathan Kiek (1971) a longstanding resident of St. Albans, author of Everybody's Historic England and of Everybody's Historic London - a History and a Guide, has kindly agreed to lead a walking tour of the city and Verulamium Park which will include the clock tower, the cathedral, the old town hall as well as Roman sites on Saturday 7 May 2016. The walk will trace the entire history of St. Albans from Celtic times and will be very different from the highly successful event of a few years ago which followed the route of the battle of St. Albans 1455. Visit to Fulham Palace

A visit has been arranged for alumni to Fulham Palace, Bishop's Avenue, London, SW6 6EA on Sunday 3 July 2016. We meet at the fountain outside the main entrance at 14:30 for a 14:45 start of a guided tour of the garden and the house. The tour lasts an hour and a half and begins outside. Cost payable on the day £8.

The palace which is Grade 1 listed was the country home of the Bishops of London until 1975 and is now administered by a Trust. The tour which covers 1300 years of history will include the history and archaeology of the site, the garden history, the lives of the bishops and the architecture.

Refreshments: the Drawing Room Café is open 09:30 - 17:00
