The UCL Here East project has come a long way over the past ten years - will you help shape our next decade?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2004

Plans for what would become the Olympic Park on a large area of disused land near Stratford in East London are revealed.

2005

London wins the bid to host the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games - work on the site begins almost immediately.

2011

Construction of the Media Centre, one of the Olympic Park's six main venues, is completed.

2012

Four billion people around the world tune in to watch athletes compete on the Park as part of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

2013

Plans begin to evolve through the LLDC (London Legacy Development Corporation) for the repurposing of facilities built for the Olympics, and for new developments on the Olympic site.

2014

Here East is announced, a groundbreaking scheme to transform the Media Centre into 1.2 million sq ft of commercial space for London’s creative and digital industries.

2015

UCL takes out a 20-year lease at Here East, with plans to create 5,500 sq m of laboratory, research and teaching facilities.

2016

The Bartlett Real Estate Institute is established - the department will be the first to be based solely at UCL's Here East site.

2017

UCL to begin teaching activities at the site.
