Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health (FSRH) Annual Scientific Meeting 2025

The meeting brought together researchers, clinicians, and policymakers working across sexual and reproductive health to explore this year’s theme: “Shaping the future of SRH in the UK and beyond.” The event featured oral presentations, posters, panel discussions and keynote talks focused on evidence, innovation, and equity in SRH practice and policy.

The programme featured a full day of talks and discussions, including sessions on quality improvement in SRH services, insights from underserved populations, research-led innovations, and global perspectives on contraception and abortion care. Dr Asha Kasliwal gave the opening keynote address setting the scene, and additional presentations from Dr Diana Mansour, Dr Binta Sultan, Grace Sumner, Dr Kristina Gemzell Daniellsson and Dr Hala Eldmanhoury all brought vital insights into the evolving SRH landscape in both UK and global contexts. The event was chaired by Dr Janet Barter and Dr Maryam Nasri of the FSRH.

As part of the day’s programme, four team members and collaborators were involved in the day:

• Dr Rose Stevens, Research Fellow, gave an oral presentation on findings from a secondary analysis of the Women’s Reproductive Health Survey, exploring reasons for contraceptive discontinuation and groups most likely to stop or switch contraceptive methods.
• Lois Harvey-Pescott, Research Assistant, gave an oral presentation on the team’s data project, sharing insights from recent scoping work designed to better understand the current landscape of reproductive health data linkage in England.
• Elena Proffitt, Research Assistant, displayed a poster synthesising recent evidence around contraceptive attitudes and experiences, displaying a range of factors that influence how people make decisions about contraception.
• Dr Neha Pathak, Unit Collaborator, moderated the conference with a focus on bringing a lived experience voice and health inclusion lens. Her PhD student Zohar Preminger also presented a poster on contraception and the vaginal microbiome.
