Independent Advisory Group
What is the Independent Advisory Group?
The Independent Advisory Group is a blended membership of both Lived and Learnt Experience members that will create a powerful partnership that ensures the Unit's research is both meaningfully informed by personal experiences and by those with backgrounds in healthcare, research, and policy. This collaboration will help us pursue real change in reducing inequalities in reproductive health care and policy.
What is the role of the members?
Independent Advisory Group members will play an essential role in guiding RH-PRU’s work, acting as "critical friends" by offering feedback and insights. Members will help ensure the research stays aligned with the needs of communities and health systems. The responsibilities include:
- Staying informed about reproductive health developments and sharing key insights.
- Reviewing and providing feedback on research proposals and outputs.
- Contributing to plans for disseminating research findings.
Sharing their knowledge and experience to help shape the direction of the Unit's work.
Lived experience members
Individuals with Lived Experience will contribute by sharing their personal insights and experiences related to reproductive health. This may include navigating the health system, accessing reproductive health services, or managing conditions that are underrepresented. Their input ensures the research is grounded in real-life challenges and priorities.
Learnt experience members
Learnt Experience members will contribute by sharing their experience from previous or current roles in healthcare, research, or policy. This includes individuals with knowledge of reproductive health, such as academic researchers, policy advisors, those who work in healthcare or the voluntary sector and organisations working on issues across the reproductive health life course.
