Health of the Public
Health beyond disciplinary borders
Our physical and mental health is shaped by a multitude of factors, from the food we eat to the air we breathe, the work we do, the places we live, the taxes we pay, the healthcare we receive, and the people around us.
Our virtual school, Health of the Public, takes forward ideas presented in the Academy of Medical Sciences report Improving the Health of the Public by 2040 to develop new research communities and collaborations that encourage innovative perspectives in our research and education, and build a new cadre of researchers and students with skills that transcend disciplines.
We are drawing on UCL’s interdisciplinary strengths across 11 faculties to deliver integrated solutions to health challenges, as part of UCL’s Health Vision.
By working across many disciplines - including engineering, climate science, the built environment, law, social sciences and population health - and in partnership with local communities, local government, the NHS, the third sector and industry, we hope to make a real difference and help build a healthier future for all.
