The Health Psychology Research Group conducts studies exploring three main themes. These are:

Theories and Techniques of Behaviour Change, including

Methods for strengthening evaluation and implementation: specifying components of behaviour change interventions

Exploring the validity of a theoretical framework for implementation research

Translation and Clinical Application, including

Psychological impact of pre-eclampsia screening

Clinician-patient communication about hereditary cancer with cancer patients: description and evaluation

Gender differences in the relationship between work and psychological distress in hospital consultants

and Behaviour Change Interventions related to Smoking Cessation or Mental Health, including

Evaluation of the two-stage training programme for stop smoking practitioners provided by the NHS Centre for Smoking Cessation and Training (NCSCT)

Factors associated with success of NHS stop smoking services

Annual surveys of commissioners, managers and practitioners of NHS Stop Smoking Services in England

Development and evaluation of an interactive, internet-based smoking cessation intervention (the ISCI Trial)

Behavioural support for smoking cessation in practice

Prediction and management of cardiovascular risk for people with severe mental illnesses. A research programme and trial in primary care (PRIMROSE)
