Karen joined UCL in November 2015 as NIHR School for Public Health Research (SPHR) Manager. Karen manages UCL’s membership of the School coordinating activity across UCL, as well as collaborations with other School members. Her role includes reporting to funders, supporting researchers with research funding applications, organising researcher and practitioner focussed events, supporting the UCL SPHR Management Group and ensuring the SPHR funds are effectively managed.

Karen was previously Head of Programmes & Evaluation at the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) with responsibility for the development, planning and coordination of initiatives in areas including end of life care, cancer survivorship, chronic disease prevention and cancer inequalities. The role also involved managing the NCRI Cancer Research Database of cancer research funded by it’s members. Prior to that she was a postdoctoral fellow at UCL and a graduate student at Cancer Research UK’s London Research Institute focussing on basic biology.
