Claire is a Research Associate working in UCL's Tobacco and Alcohol Research Group, funded by CRUK. Her research interests include health behaviours, behaviour change interventions, development and evaluation of digital interventions, excessive alcohol consumption as a behaviour change target.

She received a PhD Studentship award from the UK Centre for Tobacco and Alcohol Studies (UKCTAS) and completed her PhD at UCL under the supervision of Professor Susan Michie, Dr Jamie Brown and Professor Robert West. Her PhD thesis focused on the development and evaluation of a theory- and evidence-based smartphone application to reduce excessive alcohol consumption (‘Drink Less’). This was done through the analysis of drinking behaviour and effective interventions to reduce excessive drinking using the COM-B model of behaviour (capability, opportunity, motivation – behaviour); a systematic review of digital interventions for excessive alcohol use; studies to identify and develop intervention content for the app, and an evaluation of the different intervention content in a factorial assessment.
