Continuing Education and Professional Development

The Institute of Health Informatics offers a wide and varied assortment of opportunities for continuing education and professional development for learners from technical, clinical, managerial and administrative backgrounds.

Continuing education serves those who want to study without committing to a postgraduate programme:

  • To increase their understanding of an area

  • To improve their career prospects

  • To develop or update their skills and competencies

The courses are taught online through a mix of lectures, Q&A sessions, forums and other interactive content. We have a robust digital infrastructure and our current cohort of students are able to work remotely, to meet online and engage with each other, with their supervisors and the IHI team.

Student numbers on all available courses are limited, so we encourage continuing education students to apply as early as possible.

The application deadline for taught modules is one month before the module start date. Details of module start dates and the dates by which applications must be received are shown in the modules page of the Health Informatics programme

Continuing education students who complete and are successful in the assessments in their chosen short courses may be able to transfer the UCL credits awarded towards the requirements of a formal graduate programme such as those in health informatics or health & medical sciences.
