New study published on e-prescribing in primary care in Kuwait

29 March 2019

A new study has found that physicians working in primary care in Kuwait are broadly positive about the introduction of e-prescribing, a necessary prerequisite to the successful adoption of such systems. However, more than half of respondents in the study said that e-prescribing systems should have better functionality, such as the ability to add electronic signatures, receive medication interaction alerts, and perform dosing calculations. There was also concern about the provision of technical support.

The study was led by Dr Bashair Almutairi, who did her PhD at UCL with Dr Henry Potts of the Institute of Health Informatics, who also worked on the new study. Dr Almutairi conducted a survey of 368 physicians from 25 primary healthcare centres randomly selected from each of the five main regions of Kuwait.
