Research interests
- Markers of smoking behaviour and dependence
- The development of adolescent smoking behaviour
Current research
Examination of the distribution of cotinine (a biological marker of nicotine intake) in the population, as well as the sociodemographic factors associated with this
objective marker of smoking, using Health Survey for England data from 1998 to 2003.
Documentation of motives for continued smoking in the English population using data from the Toolkit Study.
Other work includes the identification of factors associated with adolescent smoking behaviour using focus group data and
longitudinal data from the HABITS (Health and Behaviour in Teenagers) Study.

Has contributed lectures to: Health Psychology MSc, UCL (Adolescent health behaviour and Adolescent health care); Addiction Studies MSc, Keele (Pharmacological and Psychological
interventions for smoking in adolescents); Medicine BSc (MBBS), UCL (Smoking cessation); Social Epidemiology MSc, UCL (Culture and health, Ethnicity and health behaviours).
