Big Easter Switch Off: the results!
9 May 2017
Congratulations to everyone who joined in with the Big Easter Switch Off. The energy savings you’ve helped make really is proof that we can all play a part in improving UCL’s environmental impact.
Over the Easter break, you helped save a whopping 393,000 kWh of energy which is 132 tonnes of CO2. That’s enough energy to make up to 10 million cups of tea! Over 138 staff and students pledged to take part in the campaign, from 40 departments and teams across UCL.
Congratulations to the Division of Psychiatry who have won our competition to get the largest number of team pledges, with Slavonic and Eastern European Studies, Bartlett School of Planning, Political Science and the Institute of Archaeology team being highly commended for their efforts.
If we switched off like this every weekend, UCL could save up to 700 tonnes of carbon and over £200k in energy bills every year.
Getting more involved
The Switch Off can’t end here. Saving energy is just one change which we hope you’ll continue to make. But if you’re feeling inspired, why not get more involved?
