Rising rates of mental illness, particularly among young people, combined with global disparities in care and treatment, require innovative and comprehensive solutions. Mental health impacts everything from individual well-being to economic stability, demanding a multifaceted approach that addresses prevention and early intervention.
What UCL's Grand Challenge is doing
UCL is harnessing its interdisciplinary expertise to address mental health challenges from multiple perspectives. UCL's Grand Challenge of Mental Health & Wellbeing aims to develop cutting-edge research and innovation by breaking disciplinary silos and bringing discovery to practice; develop, scale, and promote best practice in student mental health and wellbeing within UCL and externally; and work with local, regional and global communities through partnerships to support piloting new approaches and interventions.
