UCL is joining forces with some of the leading institutions and funders in global health to organise a Global Health Day conference on Monday 4 December 2017 at the Francis Crick Institute in London.

UCL, Imperial College London, The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Wellcome Trust, King's College London and the Medical Research Council have come together to organise this one day conference looking at "The UK's contribution to innovation in global health".

Innovation in global health includes process innovation, novel research methods, innovative interventions designed for low resource settings, and the use of technology to support diagnostics and treatment.

The Global Health Day conference will begin with three sessions in which researchers at the coalface of global health will present innovative research and interventions.

The fourth and final session of the day will be a panel discussion entitled "How the UK supports innovation in global health".

The UK Secretary of State for International Development Ms Priti Patel was due to address the Global Health Day conference, but resigned from her ministerial role on Wednesday 8 November. We hope it will be possible to secure a replacement DFID speaker.

Poster competition for early career researchers

The Global Health Day conference also invites early career researchers to submit an entry to our poster competition.

The competition is open to all UK PhD students and early career researchers with an interest in global health. All submissions should address the overarching theme of the conference "The UK contribution to innovation in global health".

There are great prizes on offer to the winning posters:

  1. First Prize: iPad Wi-Fi 128GB (Gold)
  2. Second Prize: Apple watch series 2 (Gold Aluminium)
  3. "People's choice award" (as selected by conference attendees): Beats solo3 Headphones with Mic

The closing date for submissions is Friday 10 November 2017.
