UCL Grand Challenges & the SDGs

Through world-class research, teaching and external engagement, UCL’s staff and students play a leading role in responding to the challenges set out in the UN SDGs.

SDGs
UCL’s Grand Challenges cover the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) identified by the UN in its 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, launched in 2015.  Search SDG-related case studies under ‘Subjects’, selecting the relevant ‘SDG’ filter to find out more.

UCL seeks to maximise the impact it is having on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals through partnership and collaboration. UCL is host of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network UK, which is the national hub for the UN-mandated SDSN.

 
  • We work with partners across the world to develop solutions to global, national and local problems.
  • We raise awareness of the SDGs among our students, equipping them to be the next generation of researchers, policymakers and campaigners who will spearhead efforts to achieve the SDGs.
  • We ensure our research and operations actively contribute to attaining the SDGs.
