Background
In 2022, the UCL Grand Challenge of Cultural Understanding (GCCU) published the “Cultures of Decolonisation at UCL” report, capturing the perspectives of researchers, doctoral students, and professional staff on how UCL’s norms and practices shape decolonising research.
Building on this work, GCCU has supported various projects, including:
- Investigating racial and ethnic inequalities in fNIRS neuroimaging research;
- Support intellectual interchange that addresses colonial violence, experiences of war and the ongoing repercussions of genocide;
- Decolonising approaches to public administration;
- Exploring issues concerning the oceanic geographies, histories and futures;
- A reading group on how legacies of colonialism and racism have formed.
This forum will showcase these projects, facilitate discussion on decolonising research, and introduce the ‘Decolonising Research at UCL’ network, inviting attendees to help shape its direction.
Why attend?
- Engage with ongoing decolonisation initiatives
- Contribute your ideas on shaping research practices at UCL
- Deliberate on the complexities and possibilities of decolonising research
- Network with colleagues working in this space
