Project Summary
In collaboration with the London Museum, Nourish Scotland, and the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, it addresses three key challenges: ethnic disparities in food insecurity, the need for affordable and healthy food models, and the lack of climate-adapted crops. Through community co-production and interdisciplinary research, the project explores how migrant culinary practices—such as communal cooking, sustainable ingredients, and crop adaptation—can inform innovative food policies and practices. Activities include re-examining British food histories, piloting multicultural Public Diners, and developing guidelines for growing climate-resilient crops introduced by migrants. Emphasising food justice, cultural heritage, and environmental sustainability, the project promotes social cohesion and mental wellbeing while challenging anti-immigrant narratives. It offers a scalable, arts-based model for transforming food systems through inclusive, community-led innovation.
