This project develops a university-wide online induction course—Sustainable Futures—to equip all UCL undergraduate students with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to engage with sustainability and climate change. Aligned with SDG4.7 and SDG13, the course will offer reflective and exploratory learning on sustainable development, encouraging students to consider their role in shaping a just and sustainable future. A pilot will run in 2024–25, with full launch in 2025–26.

The course will include a research component to capture student perspectives and inform future iterations. Long-term impacts include increased student engagement with sustainability, better-informed decision-making, and integration of sustainability into academic and extracurricular life. The project also lays the foundation for future live workshops and a research report to share findings across the sector. By embedding sustainability into the student journey from day one, UCL aims to foster a generation of graduates ready to lead on climate action.
