This project investigates how clinical data travels from acquisition in NHS settings to integration in the OneLondon Secure Data Environment (SDE), focusing on how data quality and completeness evolve along the way. Building on the DiRAC-NHS Placement Scheme, researchers from UCL ARC, Computer Science, and Physics will collaborate with Royal Free Hospital and regional partners to conduct structured interviews with clinicians and data handlers in cardiology and cancer care.

The study will identify strengths and gaps in data collection, management, and linkage, and produce a report outlining findings and a roadmap for a four-year collaboration. The project aims to improve clinical outcomes by enhancing data readiness and supporting more effective use of data in decision-making. It will also inform OneLondon’s understanding of upstream data processes and support the development of scalable, high-quality data practices across NHS systems.
