Making unequal health impacts visible in climate litigation
Exploring how health impacts of climate change are used in litigation across 10 countries to support more equitable access to justice and inform legal, academic, and civil society strategies

13 June 2025
This project investigates how the unequal health impacts of climate change are used—or overlooked—in climate litigation across ten countries, including Argentina, India, and the UK. Through legal document analysis and interviews with legal professionals and civil society actors, the team will identify barriers to using health evidence in court and propose strategies to overcome them. Outputs include a peer-reviewed publication, a toolkit for legal and health networks, and teaching case studies. A public webinar and student engagement will further disseminate findings.
The project aims to support more equitable access to justice by making health impacts more visible in climate litigation, especially in low- and middle-income countries. Success will be measured by stakeholder engagement, student feedback, and the development of a larger funding proposal to expand this work.
