This project addresses the urgent need to include disabled people—16% of the global population—in climate action. Despite growing advocacy, disabled people remain largely excluded from climate policy, planning, and disaster response, particularly in low- and middle-income countries where access to assistive technology (AT) is limited. This project will explore how inclusive design, AT, and cross-sector collaboration can support climate resilience.

Through desk research, a multidisciplinary roundtable, and co-design activities, the team will identify opportunities for UCL-led research and innovation. Outputs include a position paper, a new cross-disciplinary network, and contributions to the UK aid-funded AT2030 programme. The project aims to catalyse inclusive, practical solutions to the climate crisis, bridging gaps between disability, urban development, and climate resilience.
