Graduation Ceremonies

UCL Graduations

UCL has taken the difficult decision to cancel all graduation ceremonies this year. This covers ceremonies in June, July and September 2020.

This was not an easy decision to make but as the coronavirus crisis continues, it became increasingly clear that cancelling graduation ceremonies was the responsible course to take not least for the safety and well-being of you and your families, but also to help you plan during the weeks and months ahead.

We appreciate how disappointed you will be, just as we are. Graduation ceremonies are an opportunity for us to celebrate your success here at UCL and we’re working hard to arrange an alternative celebration for you. We will be in touch as soon as possible to let you know more. It is likely to be in 2021 but we will let you know, in good time for you to make arrangements.

In the meantime:

  • All students should ensure their home address is up to date on their Portico record.
  • Undergraduate degree certificates and transcripts will be posted once degrees have been awarded by Student & Registry Services. You will receive an email when your award has been conferred with further details about dispatch of your documents.
  • Postgraduates whose degrees have recently been awarded will have their degree certificate and transcripts dispatched within 3 months from the date of conferral of award. You will be notified if there are likely to be any delays to this schedule.
  • If you have already hired a gown, please complete this form to receive a refund from UCL's approved gown supplier J.Wippell & Co.

These are unprecedented times and your forbearance as we move to new ways of working has been inspiring. The whole UCL community looks forward to celebrating with you as soon as we are able to do so. If you have any queries please email ceremonies@ucl.ac.uk

We hope that you and your loved ones stay safe and well.
