Prof Nigel Titchener-Hooker, Dean of UCL Engineering, congratulates the Class of 2021.
The past 18 months have seen an unprecedented upheaval across the globe, and they have also seen your university experience change and adapt in ways we could never have imagined in early 2020. Each and every one of you has shown great resilience, patience and fortitude in coping with online exams, online learning, and a new way of socialising and developing as engineers and people.
I hope your experience at UCL has been everything you had hoped for and more, despite the pandemic, and I also hope you have seen for yourselves this past year and a half the vital importance not just of engineering, but teamwork, collaboration and cooperation. It gives me such pride when I see mention of UCL-Ventura breathing aids in the national and international news, or the latest research on airborne particle transmission involving Engineering colleagues, and that pride can’t help but turn to delight when I think of the collaborations, connections and discoveries the Class of 2021 will go on to make.
Don’t be strangers – stay in touch (our fantastic Alumni team have a wealth of resources for you all), and from everyone here at UCL Engineering, congratulations, well done, and all the very best for the future.
Prof Nigel Titchener Hooker, Dean of UCL Engineering
