UCL-Korea University Climate Corps Summer Programme

This is a call for applications to participate in the Climate Corps Summer Programme of Korea University (KU) taking place in Seoul, South Korea from 6 to 13 July 2025.

This funding call opens on 10 February 2025 and will close at 23:59 (UK time) on 28 February 2025.

As one of KU’s key global partners, UCL has been invited to select one faculty member and up to three doctoral students to participate in a week-long summer programme held at their campus in Seoul. The programme is designed to foster a collaborative platform across disciplines and institutions and to promote knowledge sharing, spark innovative ideas and drive the implementation of effective strategies to tackle the climate crisis.

Programme

•    Dates: 6th – 13th July 2025
•    Activities: Lectures, group projects, seminars, research sharing and site visits

•    Participating institutions: 30+ universities from six continents expected to include institutions such as KU Leuven, University of Amsterdam, University of Toronto, the University of California, Davis, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and the National University of Singapore.
•    Participants: Three students from each university; leading scholars in climate technology, innovation and policy

Eligibility   

Eligibility for students
Students from UCL should: 
•    Be PhD students at UCL until at least the end of July 2026
•    Be undertaking research directly linked to climate technology, climate business and / or climate policy and have an interest in the application of research in wider contexts (e.g. industry, policy)
•    Be interested in developing new international networks and be able to demonstrate the value of international collaboration to their research  
•    Be interested in working in interdisciplinary contexts 
•    Be committed to working collaboratively with the other UCL students and Faculty member during the programme and in relation to any follow-up activity 

Eligibility for Faculty members
UCL Faculty members should: 
•    Be within one of the following roles at UCL:
o    Professor or equivalent  
o    Associate Professor/ Reader or equivalent  
o    Senior Lecturer/Principal Researcher/Principal Research Associate or equivalent 
o    Lecturer/Senior Research Associate or equivalent 
o    Post Doc/Researcher/Research Associate or equivalent  
•    Have an open-ended UCL contract or a fixed-term contract which lasts until at least July 2026
•    Be undertaking research in the field of climate / sustainability with a particular interest in the areas of climate technology, climate business and / or climate policy and an interest in the application of this research in wider policy and / or industry contexts.
•    Be seeking to develop new international networks and collaborations.
•    Be willing to support up to three UCL students attending the conference, e.g. through mentoring and discussion.
