6 April 2022
Ciaran Moynihan has been formally appointed as UCL’s Director of Global Engagement, playing a key role in increasing UCL impact around the world.
Bringing together diverse perspectives from across UCL to inform global strategy development, Ciaran oversees the UCL Global Engagement (GE) team, which sits within the Office of the Vice-Provost for Research, Innovation & Global Engagement (RIGE).
RIGE brings together a range of functions, services and resources for the UCL community and external partners.
Reporting to UCL’s Pro-Vice-Provost (International), Ciaran provides senior leadership, management and operational oversight to ensure successful development and implementation of UCL’s strategic approach to global engagement.
Through effective support for global strategic priorities across UCL’s Faculties, he will ensure the GE Team and UCL’s global policies enhance international collaboration for the academic and student communities, while also ensuring internal collaborative working across RIGE and the wider UCL community. This approach facilitates and synchronises global engagement efforts across the university.
Ciaran was formerly Acting Director of Global Engagement and previously held the role of UCL’s Head of Global Partnerships. He has also held other senior international relations positions at UCL and Imperial College London.
Pro-Vice-Provost (International) Professor Deenan Pillay said: “We are delighted to have appointed Ciaran to this key role following his interim leadership over the past year. Ciaran has a proven track record of strategic thinking, leadership and delivery of ambitious global strategic priorities across the university and is well equipped to lead the Global Engagement team into the next phase of UCL’s strategic international activity.”
Ciaran said: “UCL is an extraordinary institution with a huge breadth of activity across research, innovation and education, which combines to have significant impact around the world in collaboration with global partners. It has been a privilege to support UCL’s Faculties to deepen their global engagement and deliver significant impact throughout my time working here.
"I am really delighted to be formally appointed as Director of Global Engagement. I’m looking forward to leading the Global Engagement team and working with UCL’s Faculties and Professional Services to deliver UCL’s strategic global priorities over the coming years.”
