UCL Strategic Partner Funds 2020/21

This autumn, the Global Engagement Office launched 10 funding streams with partner institutions to support international collaborations

The Global Engagement Office (GEO) is delighted to launch the UCL Strategic Partner Funds 2020-21, a series of seed funding streams to help UCL academics collaborate with colleagues at partner institutions around the world.

The scheme was designed to bring together different perspectives to speed up the process of discovery, leading to quicker solutions to pressing world problems. This year, many of the funding streams invite projects aimed at addressing COVID-19 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Applicants are encouraged to explore methods of remote collaboration. Some examples of how last year's recipients of global engagement funding have been adapting their projects during COVID-19 include holding meetings and events online, employing on-the-ground researchers and, where in-person meetings are essential, reducing the number of on-site participants in research groups and introducing social distancing and strict hygiene measures.

UCL-IIT Delhi Strategic Partner Funds

13 November 2020

Funds of up to £10k to support collaborative and interdisciplinary education and research initiatives in any field.

UCL-Tohoku University Strategic Partner Funds

15 November 2020

Up to six successful proposals in any field, as well as those aimed at mitigating the COVID-19 outbreak, will receive up to £10,000. 

UCL-Peking University Strategic Partner Funds

16 November 2020

Successful proposals in any field, as well as those aimed at mitigating the COVID-19 outbreak and one or more of the UN SDGs, will receive up to £10,000.  

UCL-Zhejiang University Strategic Partner Funds

16 November 2020

Up to six successful proposals in any field, as well as those aimed at mitigating the COVID-19 outbreak and one or more of the UN SDGs, will receive up to £10,000.  

UCL-Shanghai Jiao Tong University Strategic Partner Funds

16 November 2020

Funds to support UCL academics to work with SJTU on projects in any field, as well as those aimed at addressing COVID-19 and the UN SDGs.

UCL-AIIMS Strategic Partner Funds

20 November 2020

Funds to support collaborative and interdisciplinary education and research initiatives in the fields of healthcare and medicine.

UCL-University of Toronto Strategic Partner Funds

20 November 2020

Each successful proposal will receive up to £10k for UCL academics and up to $15k for U of T academics to address COVID-19 challenges.

UCL-Wits University Strategic Partner Funds

20 November 2020

Awards of up to £5,000 are available to support the development of research collaboration between UCL and Wits in all areas except Migration and Strong Materials.

UCL-Université PSL Strategic Partner Funds

15 January 2021

Up to three years of funding in the region of £10k per year to support collaborative research groups in SLASH areas.
