UCL and U of T are pleased to invite proposals for the development of collaborative research and education initiatives that will strengthen the two universities’ strategic priorities.
University College London (UCL), through the Office of the Vice-Provost Research, Innovation and Global Engagement (OVPRIGE), and the University of Toronto (U of T) are contributing matching funds to support collaborative initiatives to develop multidisciplinary innovative research that creates academic and societal impact.
Projects
1. Proposals may include, but are not limited to workshops, symposia, faculty exchanges, research seminars/presentations, joint publications, and the formation of a collaborative network in virtual or physical formats.
2. Proposals must make the case for how the collaboration would improve the impact, reach, and/or quality of the research than if it were undertaken independently.
3. Proposals should demonstrateto the potential for sustainability and scalability beyond the initial funding period, including the potential to leverage external funding and extend the scale and scope of the project team.
4. Those demonstrating strong relevance to strategic priorities at the participating institutions are strongly encouraged. These include University College London’s evolving Grand Challenges and the University of Toronto’s Institutional Strategic Initiatives.
5. Proposals from all disciplines are eligible to apply, but we particularly welcome proposals in the areas of:
• Social sciences and humanities
• Child and youth health
• Urban inequalities
• Climate change mitigation
6. Proposals that take a cross-disciplinary approach and include investigators from different fields are strongly encouraged.
Eligibility
Faculty members in continuing U of T and UCL appointments are eligible to submit proposals.
Value
Up to four (4) successful proposals will receive up to £10,000 from UCL and $15,000 from U of T to support collaboration activities for one year.
