The 2018 UCL-Lancet Commission on Migration and Health issued a global mandate for better data on the drivers and impacts of migration on health.
Our workshop aims to operationalize this call by bringing together academics, humanitarian NGOs, policy-makers and big data researchers to facilitate knowledge-exchange, to develop a better understanding of how big data can meet the needs of migration research and policy, as well as the needs of migrant populations.
This cross-disciplinary event is open to academics, students, policy makers, humanitarian workers, practitioners, NGOs, and other stakeholders. The workshop will consist of presentations, expert panels and round-table discussions across a variety of topics related to the use of big data, especially targeting (but not limited to) the following:
- Migration and healthcare
- Environmental drivers
- Data security and ethics
The workshop is a precursor to the International Conference on the Rohingya Crisis, 4-5th July 2019, organised by the UCL Institute for Risk and Disaster Reduction.
