Collaborative and Digital Analysis of Big Qual Data in Time Sensitive Contexts (LISTEN) method
Project Summary
We are a multidisciplinary team of researchers from the Rapid Research Evaluation and Appraisal Lab – RREAL (UCL) and the Oxford Vaccine Group (Oxford University). We are developing the LISTEN method - ‘Collaborative and Digital Analysis of Big Qual Data in Time Sensitive Contexts’ funded by the UKRI under the scheme “Better methods, better research”.
LISTEN includes our interdisciplinary approach that connects the human insight of collaborative and participatory methods, and expertise in digital analysis software. In this project, we will consolidate this combination of methods and systematize our approach to analyse large sets of qualitative data as an invaluable source of data that answers the “how” and “why” in time sensitive contexts.
Our LISTEN method will be developed by delivering 4 work packages (informing the LISTEN method using a systematic review; testing the LISTEN method; evaluating the LISTEN method; and developing the LISTEN manual), over the course of 2 years.
The aims of the project can be found below
- To inform and refine a method for collaborative and digital rapid analysis of big qualitative data - a large amount of complex qualitative data that can be analysed using advanced methods or tools.
- To test the method with real datasets developed in the context of emergency responses.
- To evaluate method quality indicators and implementation requirements.
- To co-develop fidelity assessment tools, educational materials, and consolidate a network of experts, and to promote the use of this approach in a wide range of organisations and contexts.
