Honorary Lecturers

Dr Ben Killingley

Ben trained at the University of Liverpool and after spending 2 years in Nottingham moved to London. He is an Infectious Diseases specialist registrar and is currently working in the microbiology department at the Royal Free Hospital. Ben co-tutors the module in Global Communicable and Non-Communicable Diseases.

Dr Bill Newsholme

Bill qualified from the Royal Free and did his general medical training in London. He also completed the DTM&H and a Masters in Infectious Diseases Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. He undertook speciality training in Infectious Diseases & Tropical medicine, including 3 years at UCLH Hospital for Tropical Diseases and is currently a Consultant in Infectious Diseases/Infection Control at Hammersmith Hospitals NHS Trust. Bill is the module coordinator for Global Communicable and Non-Communicable Diseases.

Marion Birch

Marion is a nurse and midwife with a qualification in tropical diseases, an MSc in health policy from LSHTM/LSE and a postgraduate diploma in economics from SOAS. She worked for 15 years in countries affected by conflict mainly in the area of public health, for 8 years as director of the global health charity Medact, and as training advisor and consultant for a number of organisations. Marion is co-coordinator of the module Conflict, Humanitarianism and Health.
